A dream danced to life

She stared
at the anklets in her hands
The bells jingling gently
As if they dared not disturb
others dreams
More important than hers

Her hands held them
a little bewildered
She had forgotten
Why she bought them

For years they had lain
In a corner of the attic
Thrown there because
There was no space in the house
It was full of others lives and dreams

Alone at last
After all had left
she tried them on

And as they jingled
A little noisier now
A dream
Slowly danced to life
Just for a few minutes

And then was put away again
As she tended to others lives
So that they could live their dreams
